InGenius Live Desktop Portal is a sophisticated, yet easy-to-use web portal application for personalizing both telephony functions and new live content applications on your Mitel 5300 IP desktop phone connected to a 3300.

Easy user interface. Log into the Live Desktop Portal Web page with your Windows credentials, and a picture of the phone model you are currently logged into automatically appears. Simply click on the button you want to program, then select the function you want from the list. Users are not confronted with an intimidating list of phone functions that only the techies understand - they only see the functions that they want and need.
Dealers and Phone System Administrators: Makes phone deployment and programming a snap, while eliminating tech support calls from confused users! Integration with Active Directory Groups makes it fast and easy to configure restrictions by workgroup. WorkGroup Administrators: For the first time, phone administration and programming can be effectively distributed to WorkGroup Administrators. Through Live Desktop Portal's different levels of user profiles and tie-in to Active Directory Groups, you can, for example, allow the WorkGroup Admin for Northeast US Sales to look after his or her own user group.

Where did the idea for the Live Desktop Portal come from? From Mitel customers! Live Desktop Portal was designed by InGenius in response to an urgent request from a large Mitel customer who wanted a better way to work with the Mitel phones. InGenius then added the "special sauce" that makes the Live Desktop Portal much more than a phone programming tool, by adding:
- WorkGroup Administration
- Integration with Corporate Active Directory
- and LIVE PERSONALIZED content.

How Does Live Desktop Portal Work?
- Live Desktop Portal is installed on an IIS web server on the customer's LAN.
- Users go to the Live Desktop Portal web page and log on using their normal network credentials. No special logons and no desktop installations are required.
- Live Desktop Portal looks up the user's extension in Active Directory, and determines the phone model
- The user's phone is shown on-screen in the web page. The current programming is shown on the keys. Any keys the user is not allowed to change are shown in a dim color.
- The user clicks on the key they want to program. A pop-up window appears showing the programming functions they are allowed to program. The user selects the desired function, enters the required parameters, and the key is programmed!
- If the user is programming a speed call, the user can enter a name into the label field, and Live Desktop Portal will automatically fill in the extension. If you know the extension, Live Desktop Portal will fill in the name automatically!
- When programming the phone key with live content, select the content source, which can be a local atom feed behind your firewall or an externally hosted blog.
- Live Desktop Portal retrieves the live content, formats it appropriately for your phone model, and makes the content "safe" by removing flash animations and other non-compatible content.
Technical Features
- Works with Mitel 3300 IP-PBX and Mitel 5212, 5224 and 5304, 5312, 5324, 5320, 5330, 5340, 5360 phones. Live content only available for 5320, 5330, 5340 and 5360 phones.
- Works with a single 3300, or within a cluster.
- Server application runs on Windows Server 2003 SP2 or higher with IIS 6.0+ and Active Directory.
- Live Desktop Portal has been used in installations with 1000's of users. It scales well!
- Live Desktop Portal communicates with the 3300 using an IP connection between the Live Desktop Portal server and the Mitel 3300.
- Administrators can specify which phone features are available to a group of users by selecting an AD group, then selecting the phone features that are enabled for that group.
- Administrators can specify "WorkGroup Administrators" - users who can program settings on other user's phones.
- Users can change key programming by simply dragging items from one key to another - even dragging items between pages of keys!
- Live Desktop Portal works in conjunction with a user's class of service. Users are not given the option to program features that their class of service does not allow.
- Live Desktop Portal supports English and French initially.
- Includes HTTPS support for advanced security.
- Live content can be created using a wide range of fonts and character sets. If you need content on your phone in Mandarin, Japanese, Russian, Greek, etc, you can create it using Live Desktop Portal! The fonts are rendered on the central server - it doesn't matter that these fonts are not available on the phone.
- Live content is compatible! The Live Desktop Portal server reformats the live Internet content for the phone. Content that won't work on your phone (flash video, for instance) is automatically made safe - converted to a single still image, or ignored.
- Live content creators can program a phone number for each screen of information. Simply enter the phone numbers as labels or tags in the content creation tool. These numbers automatically become like speed-dials on your phone.

Screen Shots
Live Desktop Portal runs in a browser window. This window shows an administrator's view of the application. Administrators have a few extra menu choices on the left side of the screen, including "select user" and "system settings"

When you click on a key on the on-screen phone, a menu appears showing the key programming choices you have. Help is provided for each function, and the appropriate text boxes are displayed so you can enter extra information.


Select "My Apps" to see what Live Internet content is available, and program it on a key!

Live Desktop Portal allows Workgroup administrators to edit other user's phones. Simply enter the DN or type a few characters of the user's name!
